Izalgue, the winning team of the 2023 Pangaea X competition, is making strides in environmental conservation with their innovative green algae insulation project. Backed by the Horn Foundation’s generous financial support of €20,000, Izalgue aims to revolutionize sustainable building practices by utilizing algae-based materials for insulation. This pioneering approach not only leverages the natural carbon-sequestering properties of algae but also promotes the use of renewable resources in the construction industry. By integrating these eco-friendly materials, Izalgue’s project has the potential to significantly reduce the carbon footprint of buildings, enhance energy efficiency, and pave the way for a new standard in sustainable architecture.
